Current Simple + Deeply Satisfying Things
The deeply satisfying realities of my life are simple, simple things. My life is not fancy or glamorous; I get legitimately thrilled with the glory of everyday goodness. These are the moments that make me feel like I am winning at life.
The distant hum of the dishwasher at night that calms my soul because it means the kitchen is cleaned.
Delightfully prancing barefoot on the freshly vacuumed carpet.
A full tank of gas.
The sight of my online grade-book being complete and up-to-date.
When I crack three eggs perfectly without breaking the yoke, and the angels sing.
A long, hot shower after a grueling workout.
Carrying all of the grocery bags into the apartment in one fell swoop.
A freshly brewed cup of coffee in the morning, the caramel french vanilla kind, because I realized I'm an adult and can buy it whenever I want to.
When I change the station just in time to hear my favorite gansta rap song start.
When I know where the pacifiers are.
Getting a freaking Costco membership and spending hours gazing upon the piles of goodness.
Kisses from my two handsome boys in the morning.
Meal preparation on Sunday afternoon, followed by episodes of Friends on the couch.
When the underwear famine is over and every single piece of clothing I own is deliciously clean and waiting for me on hangers and in thrilling neat piles.
Parallel parking without dying and feeling like a queen.
When my husband and I want a cheat meal at the same time.
When vitamins come in gummies and the health radiates out of me.
An uncharacteristic, spontaneous, twelve dollar moment at Target.
Being alone with the copy machine.
Having quality time with quality people and doing quality, leisurely, feel-good things.
"If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things of nature have a message that you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive."
I am enjoying and savoring and living for these simple but oh so incredibly powerful things.
