New Beginnings and Simplicity
This summer has been the summer of new beginnings.
A different school year, a new apartment, an unexpected loss, and a new baby boy. It's been a whirlwind of change.
I love and crave routine, but big changes are always something I try to embrace. Big changes mean profound things for me. They offer me reflection and self searching without me looking for it. I am able to pause, and reevaluate my life as it appears in the now.
Moving into a new apartment has been a clear, tangible way for us to embrace this new change. A different surrounding and a new place hold a abundance of possibilities for us. Our new apartment is so simple, but it's been already a safe haven. It's the first home for our little kid, and that makes it special. It even has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which honestly seem like an undeserved luxury after two years in a studio apartment. I love our little built in bookshelf and our quirky ceiling fan and our tiny patio. I love walking into the complex and opening a new door coming home at the end of the day.
Simplicity has been a major theme for us this year and we feel called to embrace it more and more. We love not only the ease that simplicity gives us, but also the spiritual ramifications of nurturing a family culture that is poor in spirit. We place a value on the simple joys in life and we're not drawn in by the latest and greatest material things. We are learning the art of contentment, and it feels so good.
Here's to the beautiful and many memories in #H114!
